Why, hello there!

Many thanks for stopping by our blog...it honestly means so much to us!

Our story begins one New Years day amongst the tepees of 'Rhythm and Vines' in Gisborne, New Zealand. It was there that music-festival-love blossomed and when Kelly moved across the ditch to Sydney in search of some sun, a hipster union began. Polar opposites in most ways, it's our united passion for exploring the world that makes us both tick.

How our adventures began

We coined the term 'hiphikers' one morning while exploring Sydney's Royal National Park (an absolute favourite pastime of ours). Favouring our nikes and hi-tech gear, we'd often joke how we were by far the most hipster of any hikers we encountered on our camping adventures. With our friends latching onto the name, it's since stuck!

As we ventured further from home we wanted a platform to share our travel stories with our friends, families and likeminded travellers. With Dan's self-taught photography skills and my love for writing, our travel blog was born. We've since been exploring the world with our cameras in tow, documenting our adventures to share with you.

Where to next?

It's been a busy few years for us. After living out of our beloved Westfalia Camper "Aramoana" for 6 months in Europe, we moved to Canada as a base to explore the Americas.

Now we have landed back on Australian soil and are gearing up to walk "Te Araroa", the 3000km trail stretching from Cape Reinga to Bluff in New Zealand in September 2018.

Dan "Quest-lover" Saddleton

- The Aussie -

An Audio engineer and musician by trade, Dan is a true tech-dog. He spends his time discovering the most sustainable and minimalist approaches to life and technology. He now lives out of a carry-on bag and dreams of building an off grid tiny home. Forever on the quest for the next adventure, you'll find him tackling downhill trails on his mountain bike or snowboard. A self taught photographer and videographer, see the world as captured through his lens.

I traded in a business degree to pursue the world of writing & travel agent mastery. Happiness is walking barefoot in the sunshine, picking wild flowers to put in my hair (my mother calls me her summer child). The kitchen is my absolute favourite room in the home- it's where I cook up vegetarian feasts and recreate my favourite desserts. Lately I've even been learning how to make my own zero waste toiletries. Look for me floating around in the ocean, sitting on the edge of waterfalls or befriending the local animals. Travel is my life and I hope that passion translates through my words.
