Long Weekender: Exploring Jervis Bay

Jervis Bay, the perfect city escape.

When Sydney city has got you feeling down, jump in your car and head 3 hours south to escape to Jervis Bay.After hearing about this fabled place of dolphins and white sand for the three years I've lived in Sydney, I could not wait to go.

Get around on foot.

Get yourself acquainted with the area by walking along the beautiful coastal path that runs from Vincentia to Hyams. The scenery is gorgeous and you will have plenty of time to take in all the beaches along the way.

Beach Accommodation.

Hyams beach really is as silicon sand perfect as the postcards, but if you struggle for availability you can stay at any of the neighbouring beaches to take advantage. At the lookout over Cave beach we watched as a pod of dolphins caught the waves amongst the surfers. The perfectly located camping spot was duly noted as a great place to stay for next time.

Enjoy the quiet.

Planning your trip outside of the school holidays will mean that you can avoid the masses. If you fall in love with the area, simply extend your stay and be spoilt for choice with water sports and national park hikes alike.
